Our Mission

The Daniel L. Edelstein Memorial Fund is dedicated to improving the lives of those with colorectal cancer and ultimately eradicating the disease. We seek to promote community awareness and education while supporting innovative research to advance novel methods of early detection, prevention, and treatment. By joining forces with the Johns Hopkins Colon Cancer Center, a global leader in healthcare, we are able to maximize positive changes for many people.

The objectives of the Daniel L. Edelstein Fund are focused in the following two areas:

Prevent colorectal cancer by increasing education.
We are determined to increase the dialogue about colorectal cancer, in order to achieve greater detection and rates of survival and reduce the stigma that surrounds routine colonoscopy screening.

Improve patient's lives during and after treatment.
Research indicates that proper nutrition and regular exercise can not only prevent colon cancer but also significantly improve the health and prognosis of patients undergoing treatments.

Organizations Focus
The efforts of the Daniel L. Edelstein Memorial Fund are focused on the following core areas which are clearly aligned with our overall objective of eradicating colorectal cancer and improving the lives of those with the disease:

Community education and awareness projects emphasizing proper screening techniques while reducing the social stigma and anxiety associated with colonoscopies and colon cancer.

Promoting easily amenable lifestyle modifications in nutrition and physical activity to minimize colorectal cancer risk.

Improving patient care, treatment, and prevention strategies by supporting meaningful research.

Building advocates for patients and caregivers through public outreach to encourage wellness and foster hope for patients and families.
